Council set to build eight houses in Malin for €1.2m

DONEGAL County Council has been given the green light to build eight more council houses in a Malin Estate.

Eight houses, costing around €150,000 each, will be built at Radharc na Trá Bréige, in Malin, after more than €1.2 million was dedicated to the Council under the Local Authority Housing Construction Programme.

Announcing the project throughout Minister for Housing Planning and Local Government Simon Coveney, Fine Gael Minister of State Joe McHugh said stage one has begun with €1,241,291 being approved for the budget.

He said this was a ‘very positive investment’ in the county and he will continue to work with his council colleagues to put pressure on Donegal County Council to progress the project.

Similarly Culdaff councillor said the extra council houses being built in Radharc na Trá Bréige, on the main Malin to Glengad road, will make a ‘positive difference’ to the Malin area. He said there is a real housing shortage in the county and he hopes the development will be the ‘beginning of future investments’ in Inishowen.
