Dog foul causing a stink in Moville, Inch and Buncrana

‘It’s totally disrespectful’

DOG owners are being asked to be more responsible after a blind woman almost stepped on faeces on a popular Buncrana coastal walk.

Following an increase in the number of complaints regarding dog fouling in the Inishowen Area, Donegal County Council carried out a review of their policy.

Matthew Byrne, from the council’s environment section, said complaints about dog fouling were particularly high at Inch Level, Swan Park, the Moville to Greencastle shore walk and the Fr. Hegarty’s coastal walk in Buncrana.

Mr. Byrne said the complaints ranged from people stepping on it, prams getting their wheels covered in it, workers getting it on their clothes and a fear of children getting it on their eyes and hands.

Addressing the monthly meeting of the Inishowen Municipal District recently, the council official said the dog and litter warden walked these routes and stopped members of the public who had dogs to remind them to lift the dirt left by the dogs and giving them poop scoop bags and leaflets reminding them to be responsible dog owners.
