Thirty dull days hath September

Little sunshine but month is warmer and drier than usual
Last month was the wettest September in Inishowen for four years, the latest Met Eireann figures have shown.
Despite that however, the month was actually warmer and slightly drier than normal.
The Malin Head rainfall total of 94.7 millimetres [3.7 inches] is below the 96.4 millimetre average for the month, while the mean temperature of 14 degrees Celsius is almost eight per cent warmer than usual for September.
That said, there was more rain in September 2016 than the two previous Septembers combined.
In keeping with August, September was relatively dull. There were eleven days with less than an hour of sunshine at Malin Head, including Friday, September 23 when there wasn’t a single minute of sunshine.
The warmest day of last month in Inishowen was Wednesday, September 7, when temperatures reached 21.3 degrees Celsius while the wettest day was Sunday, September 18, which recorded 10.5mms of rainfall.
The month was generally warm – with nine days recording temperatures of 18 degrees or above – but became cooler towards the end, with an overnight minimum of 6.9 degrees on September 30 a low for the month.
