‘Get over it, Trump is the President’

Inishowen woman says Trump can unite the country and get people back to work
An Inishowen woman who voted for Donald Trump says people need to ‘get over it’ and accept the controversial businessman as the next President of the United States.
Madeline Downey, from Burt, has lived in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the past 30 years.
She says she voted for Trump because he ‘doesn’t take any crap’ and because she believes he is the right man to ‘get people back to work’.
The Inishowen ex-pat says the result came down to the economy but concedes to being ‘shocked’ by the outcome nonetheless.
“I have to be honest, there’s a big part of me that still can’t believe he won but I think he’s the right man to clean up all the corruption in politics here.”
She condemned recent riots in New York and elsewhere, urging those who didn’t vote for Trump to accept the election.
“He’s our President now so we have to stand by him no matter what.”
