Harry’s moves to Derry as Bridgend restaurant goes to Sunday-only opening

An Inishowen restaurateur says the uncertainty around Brexit is making it “very difficult” to invest in Inishowen.

Donal Doherty, who has helped grow the successful Harry’s restaurant brand in Bridgend and Portstewart in recent years, says the biggest problem with Britain’s impending exit from the European Union is that “nobody knows for sure what’s going to happen”.

“It is a complete unknown at this stage, and that makes it very difficult for us to decide to invest in Bridgend,” he said.

Mr Doherty was speaking to the Inishowen Independent ahead of the opening of a new Harry’s restaurant in Derry this Thursday.

However the expansion comes as Harry’s in Bridgend changes to Sunday-only opening for the time being – with a possible return to full-time opening hours later in the summer.
