New Year’s baby joy for Muff and Burnfoot families
Baby Cora and Stephen are Inishowen’s first babies of 2017
THERE WERE many reasons to celebrate for two Inishowen families this New Year’s Day after two local babies were born on January 1.
First born in Letterkenny Hospital was baby Cora Harkin at 5.11am on Sunday morning to proud parents Fiona and Paul Harkin from Muff.
Cora was followed by baby Stephen, to parents Elaine Craig and Stephen McCann from Burnfoot at 4.26 on Sunday afternoon.
Mum Fiona Harkin from Muff was just three days overdue when she gave birth to Cora, her third child.
“My waters broke at one minute past midnight on Sunday morning so we sort of missed the countdown in our house,” Fiona told the ‘Inishowen Independent’ yesterday.
“It all went quite quick after that.”
Cora, who weighed 8lb when she was born, was expected to return home yesterday afternoon to see her excited brother Eoin [age 2] and sister Abbie, [age 4].
