COCKHILL Chapel has been targeted by thieves after money was stolen from a charity box inside the church recently.
A wooden timber box was vandalised and smashed open and its contents were robbed from the chapel sometime between 8am and 8pm on 2 January.
Gardaí in Buncrana are now investigating what has been described as a ‘crime against the Church’.
Superintendent Eugene McGovern said they are appealing to people who attended the St. Mary’s Church, Cockhill, for prayers on Tuesday, January 2, and who might have saw someone acting suspicious.
