Construction work on Cockhill Bridge to begin in weeks

‘This is the day we’ve all been dreaming of’

THE DAY that many Inishowen councillors had dreamt of, finally came true in Buncrana yesterday, with the signing of the official contract for a new bridge at Cockhill.

Gathered in the former council chamber in the public service centre on St. Oran’s Road, politicians, council officials, council workers and even a Government Minister were all singing from the same hymn sheet.

Inishowen Mayor Bernard McGuinness said this was the day they were all dreaming of.

“I’m the longest serving councillor in this District and I can’t say the amount of times Cockhill has been mentioned over the years – this is a fantastic day for all of Inishowen.”

Cllr. McGuinness praised everyone involved in the project, but in particular he praised Ministers Joe McHugh and Paschal Donohoe for providing the funding for the €3 million bridge.
