Foyle Ferry stuck in dry dock
‘This is a really disappointing response’ – Buncrana Senator
It’s been a bad week for the Foyle Ferry which looks set to remain in dry dock after both the Causeway Coast and Glens Council and the Republic’s Department of Transport and Tourism said they would not invest in the Greencastle-Magilligan service.
The ferry carried 23,346 vehicles and 71,417 passengers between Greencastle and Magilligan last July, August and September, but its operators withdrew from their three year licence saying that they had lost money on the service.
The service will not be viable without an annual cash injection of up to €80,000.
