Valuable lights stolen from popular Buncrana sign

‘We are very distressed by this act of vandalism’

PEOPLE in Buncrana are ‘distressed’ after valuable lights were stolen from the popular Buncrana Sign on the entrance into the town.

Last week the sign, which had recently been taken down and renovated by the Buncrana Tidy Towns group in conjunction with Donegal County Council, had lights worth around €1,800 removed and stolen from the sign.

Local Councillor Nicholas Crossan said people in Buncrana are distressed that someone could have done this to such an important and loved local landmark.

The high tech expensive lights were installed on the sign within the last month after the newly revamped sign, which measures approximately three feet in height by fifty feet wide, had been replaced.
