‘It will be a huge culture shock for them’


Egyptian woman is confident that Inishowen refugees will be welcomed but they will find it tough here


An Arabic woman who came here in 2015 is confident that the Syrian refugees scheduled to arrive in Inishowen next month will be warmly received – though they may struggle with the Donegal accent!

Nancy Elaraby is originally from Egypt but now lives in Letterkenny, where she is a member of the Donegal Inter-Cultural Platform.

She says the twelve refugees families, bound for Carn and Buncrana in late May or early June, will likely be welcomed with open arms by the locals here.
