Inishowen councillors back plan to pay operator €120,000 per year
The Foyle ferry will resume on July 1 after Inishowen’s county councillors yesterday unanimously backed a plan to pay the operator €120,000 per year to run the service.
The Inishowen Independent understands that Fraser Ferries Ltd, the company that quit after one season last year, will now provide the service until the end of 2019 having agreed a three-year contract with the council.
Donegal County Council must foot the entire bill for the cross-border service after members of the Causeway Coast and Glens Council in April opted not to finance it.
