Huge numbers complete Darkness into Light in Buncrana

ALMOST one thousand people are understood to have taken part in Buncrana’s second Darkness into Light walk in the town on Saturday morning.

At 4.15am on Saturday morning, more than an estimated eight hundred people gathered on St. Oran’s Road in Buncrana to walk five kilometres around the town in aid of Pieta House.

“It is a very emotional walk – you don’t have to have lost someone to suicide to feel the emotion, its tangible,” explained committee member Sueanne McGonigle.

“It is just an amazing sight to see the sea of yellow leaving and walking around Buncrana. We’re so happy that we’ve been able to keep the same numbers as year – we had 850 last year and we think we have around the same this year – we’re just waiting on Dublin to give us the official confirmation.”
