Carn’s Alzheimer’s Unit celebrates ten year anniversary

TEN YEARS ago Taoiseach Bertie Ahern came to Carndonagh to officially open the town’s new Alzheimer’s Unit.

Now ten years on the Ard Aiobhinn Unit at Carn Hospital, is a fully functional 16 bed facility for people with dementia, providing respite, assessment and support to the local community in North Inishowen.

This coming Sunday the unit will be open to the public to come in and look around and to help them celebrate their tenth anniversary.

“This is basically to show people who we are and what we do,” said Finola McColgan Assistant Director of Nursing at Carn Communtiy Hospital.
