The Mica Action group is taking “some positives and some negatives” from the expert panel’s report on defective blocks.
MAG Secretary Eileen Doherty says the group welcomes the eventual publication of the report and the fact that it has identified the huge scale of the problem as well as making recommendations for tougher building controls going forward.
She says official confirmation for the first time that defective blocks have caused the crumbling homes crisis is also welcome.
However members are “incredibly disappointed” that the source of the problem is not properly addressed while the report “does nothing” for homeowners currently struggling with the mica problem.
