Judge highlights ‘crazy driving’ and ‘boy racer’ culture

An outgoing judge, who has served here for more than a decade, has spoken of the “crazy driving” and “boy racer” culture that continues to exist in Inishowen.

Speaking at his final circuit court sitting in Buncrana last week, Judge John O’Hagan said he has presided over many tragic cases following fatal collisions.

“The killing of eight people in a crash in 2010 was an awful, awful case. A lot has been written and said about that but I mention it here as an example of a catastrophe that may emanate from crazy driving.”

The judge praised Gardaí for “putting their lives on the line”, adding that “young boy racers in Donegal in particular seem to have an attitude towards Gardaí”.
