Miniature fire engine collection in Carn

Tony Quirke, right, presenting his collection to Carn fire chief Duncan McDaniels.

Carn fire station is the apt new home of Inishowen’s largest collection of model fire engines.

The quirky collection of 1:50 scale models was donated to Carn fire station officer Duncan McDaniels by collector Tony Quirke!

A former lorry driver, Mr Quirke, who lived in Carn for a number of years before relocating to Malin, has been collecting the miniature vehicles for more than thirty years.

When firefighters were working at a hydrant outside his home he called them in to view the collection and later decided to donate it so that it may be viewed by the local community.
