The resettlement of 12 Syrian families to Inishowen has been suspended just days before they were due to move here.
Donegal County Council last week issued a statement that said the need to house residents displaced by the flooding has caused the suspension of the refugee resettlement programme.
The Syrian families were due to move to their new homes in Buncrana and Carndonagh this week, with children scheduled to start attending local schools from 25 September.
However, the devastating floods, which displaced at least 59 families has put pressure on the council’s ability to secure sufficient housing for both the refugee families and locals.
