Burnfoot couple suffer €200,000 worth of damage to luxury family home

Husband and wife, Paul and Lorraine Bradley, who suffered more than €200,000 in damage to their family home in Burnfoot, are “absolutely devastated”.

“Everything we have built up over the past nine years has been totally destroyed in one night. We have put all our money into this house,” says Lorraine.

The luxury house, which is situated just off the Birdstown Road between Burnfoot and Muff, sustained substantial damage after it was flooded by surging water up to three-feet deep in places.

It took seven men working for five days to clear the mud from the house but the entire downstairs, including kitchen units, suites of furniture, flooring, a fridge, cooker and under-floor heating system, has been destroyed.

Upstairs, beds, mattresses, clothes and curtains all had to be dumped too. Almost two weeks on and the smell of damp remains palpable despite the dehumidifiers and open windows.
