Glengad earn revenge

Having missed out on the league title the previous weekend, you always felt that Glengad would have that little bit more hunger for Saturday evening’s Clubman Shirts League Cup Final in Maginn Park and that’s exactly how it was in the end.
After all, this was the final chance for Shane Byrne and his players to lift any sort of silverware this season and for a team that has become used to winning trophies over the last five or six years, there was no way Byrne was going to settle for a trophyless season.
The game itself was a more open affair than the league game between the sides the previous week and it was certainly Glengad who made the better start at the weekend.
The impressive James McKinney headed wide from a John McDaid corner when he really should’ve been hitting the target before McDaid again done well to keep the ball alive in the Aileach area a few moments later and when his knock back fell for Stephen McLaughlin, his effort somehow managed to hit the post and the bar before being scrambled to safety by Aileach keeper Kyle Dougal.
