The trial of two young Inishowen men charged with murder is continuing at the New South Wales Supreme Court in Australia.
The pair, Nathan Kelly (23) and Christopher McLaughlin (25), deny murdering 66-year-old Australian Paul Tavelardis in Sydney on December 29, 2018.
Kelly, from Glengad, and McLaughlin, from Malin Head, face life sentences if found guilty of the charge.
Kelly had told police that he and McLaughlin confronted Tavelardis after they saw him trying to break into McLaughlin’s vehicle. Kelly claimed the man approached them “shouting and roaring” armed with a metal pipe.
According to the prosecutor however, a police examination of McLaughlin’s vehicle found no evidence of damage.
