Another step in right direction for Inishowen’s only Irish-speaking secondary school
The principal of Inishowen’s only Irish-speaking secondary school is ‘delighted’ that the future of the Gael Coláiste has been secured until the middle of 2015 at least.
Coláiste Chineál Eoghain principal Éabha Ní Mhonacháin says the Department of Education’s decision to extend provisional recognition for a further year is another timely boost for the Buncrana school, first opened in 2007.
“We are absolutely delighted to get this positive judgment so early and we hope it’s another step towards maintaining the school as a permanent fixture in Inishowen. We are doing everything we can to ensure that remains the case,” she said.
The school only received the news that it was safe for the current 2013/14 term last May but principal Éabha Ní Mhonacháin is delighted that the good news has come much earlier this time round.
