Local charities concerned about impact of national scandal
‘All money raised here, stays here’
With the continuing bad publicity surrounding ‘top ups’ for some executives working in national charities, local charities have said they are fearful of being caught in the fallout from the scandal.
The scandal has centered Central Remedial Clinic after it was revealed that senior staff were paid top ups over and above the salary paid by the HSE. However, the lack of regulation in the charity sector means that all charities are in danger of being tarred with the same brush.
Angela Tourish of iCARE, the local charity that raises money for children with autism, said they are fearful about the fallout.
