Inishowen Macra seeks new members
Efforts to expand the Inishowen branch of Macra na Feirme are ongoing with members issuing an open invitation to any young person aged 17-35 to come along and join them at a social evening in the Rock Bar, Muff, on Wednesday 5 February.
Inishowen Macra chairman Kevin Callaghan (Muff), treasurer Esther Logue (Quigley’s Point) and PRO Corey Wylie (Muff) dropped into the Inishowen Independent office last week to explain just what organisation is about.
Corey Wylie was at pains to correct the popular misconception that it’s a young person’s version of the Irish Farmers Association.
“It’s not just for farmers, it’s for any young person aged 17-35 and the emphasis is on socialising, fun competitions and trips down the country.” Mr Wylie said.
“While most of our current members are farmers, we’re trying to widen it out to everyone in the community regardless of their background.”
