D-day for Gleneely Post Office

Decision imminent with one individual keen to take on the village service
The long-term future of Gleneely Post Office is set to be decided this weekend.
The village service has been in jeopardy since long-term postmaster Kevin McLaughlin publicly announced his retirement last month.
Currently the Post Office remains open but will close next Friday, April 4, ending a long association with the McLaughlin family in Gleneely.
The deadline for expressions of interest passed on March 7 and An Post says it is considering ‘all the options’.
The company must now decide whether to formally tender for a new Gleneely Post Office or remove the service from the village altogether.
