Judge queries high number of speeding drivers who claim to have received no postal fines
A local district court judge has queried the high number of Inishowen people accused of speeding who regularly appear in court claiming that they have not received fines in the post.
Judge Paul Kelly said the issue cannot be allowed to continue and must be investigated.
“Does any post at all get delivered in this area of the countryside?” he asked at Carn District Court.
His comments come after several people appeared at Carn Court, testifying that they were completely unaware of their speeding offences before receiving surprise summonses from Gardai.
