Cllr seek assurances that finance department will not move to Lifford
THE CHIEF executive of Donegal County Council has refused to allay fears over the future of the Carn Public Service Centre.
At the monthly meeting of the Council in Lifford, Chief Executive Seamus Neeley told the councillors that discussions over ‘staff deployments’ had not yet been concluded.
Since the Municipal District came into effect following the elections in May, there have been rumours that services within the Carn PSC will be further eroded, following the loss of the planning department two years ago.
It is understood that the Finance Department, which consists of about eight staff members, and the Community and Enterprise Department are under threat of being centralised to Lifford.
Inishowen councillors spoke up in support of the Carn PSC, with Culdaff councillor, Bernard McGuinness saying he wanted ‘assurances’ from the Council that they would not lose the Finance Department.
