Councillors squabble over where their next meeting should be held
A WAR of words has erupted between councillors over whether to hold their next meeting in Buncrana instead of Carndonagh.
At the Inishowen Municipal District meeting – held on Tuesday, at the Public Service Centre in Carndonagh (above) – Councillor Rena Donaghey put forward a motion to hold the next meeting in Buncrana.
She told councillors that they gave a ‘commitment to the people of Buncrana’ that they would hold some of their meetings there.
But Councillor Bernard McGuinness was quick to oppose the motion saying Buncrana had secured extra services and to ‘let things settle’.
When asked by Cllr Donaghey if he was saying ‘no’ to a meeting in Buncrana, he replied saying ‘no, I am not saying that’.
He accused Cllr Donaghey of being ‘mischievous’ and ‘stirring things up’ because he claimed she wasn’t a happy camper.
