Cockhill’s William says he ‘jumped at the chance’
Cockhill Celtic’s William O‘Connor has taken on the role of first team coach with Donegal’s only senior club Finn Harps.
Speaking to the Inishowen Independent this week, O’Connor (pictured above in action for Cockhill) who currently holds a Uefa B licence explained how the opportunity to coach Harps came about. “I have known Ollie Horgan now for a long time through working with schools football teams and I am actually working with him this year on the management team for the Irish schoolboy side that will take part in the Centenary Shield. We got chatting about Harps while away with the Irish team and when Ollie offered me a role, I jumped at the chance,” said O Connor.
The Cockhill man took his first training session with the team on Monday night and he explained that he was deligthed to get the chance to work with senior players. “The session went very well. It’s great for me to get working with senior players at a senior club and the experience can only be good for me in the long run,” he said.
