A number of Inishowen priests are on the move this week after the 2016 list of clerical changes in the Derry Diocese was revealed.
Bishop Donal McKeown has announced a total of seventeen appointments in all, with a number of them affecting parishes in Inishowen.
In the 2015-amalgamated parish of Clonmany and Culdaff, Fr James McGrory is leaving after just one year, to be replaced by new curate Fr. Karl Haan, who will reside at Bocan.
Fr Haan (60) is a native of Derry who was ordained as a priest at Maynooth in 1981. He has previously served at Steelstown, Creggan, Killygordon and Glenullin parishes.
Fr Haan’s grandfather, Alphonse Haan, first came to Ireland from Germany in 1884.
In the parish of Burt, Inch and Fahan, Fr Brendan Crowley is moving after two years in the parish. He will become the new parish priest at Garvagh-Kilrea [Errigal parish], County Derry.
Fr Crowley said his final mass at the weekend but will return to celebrate a number of local weddings. He will be replaced by Fr Fintan Diggin, the Buncrana-born priest becoming the new curate based at Burt.
