YOU WOULD be forgiven for thinking nothing more of this photo, other than it captures five friends, standing side-by-side, as they graduate from University.
But, as the saying goes, it’s a picture that speaks a thousand words.
For, Dylan Clarke, Conor Deeney, Sorcha McLaughlin, Sinead Barber and Olivia Farren are the first-ever people with autism, from Sonas Youth Club in Buncrana, to graduate from NUI Galway, after completing their leadership for life modules 1-3.
And their youth club leaders, parents, siblings and iCare volunteers, couldn’t be prouder.
Liam Gill, iCare centre manager and youth club co-ordinator for Sonas youth club, said everyone is just completely buzzing.
“It is absolutely fantastic what they have done.
“They are the first young people with autism to do it as a collective group,” he said.
