Superintendent appeals for information; says occupants were ‘lucky’ to escape serious injury
A Garda inquiry is underway following a crash involving a Garda patrol car on the main Bridgend to Letterkenny road at Carrownamaddy, Burt at 10.05pm on Sunday night.
Inishowen Superintendent Eugene McGovern confirmed that local Gardaí were “involved in an active investigation” when their marked patrol car collided with an “innocent third party vehicle” with two people inside.
A total of four people – two guards and the two innocent members of the public – were taken to Letterkenny Hospital following the crash but were released soon afterwards, with no significant injuries reported.
Supt McGovern said all four were “extremely lucky” to escape serious injury.
